Working to help the community by serving meals at Hesed House.

STREET MINISTRY

Once a year, the Street Ministry Outreach Team gathers and stuffs backpacks with necessary items for those in great need, especially for the homeless. Our congregants each take a backpack and keep it in their car until the right Divine Time occurs to give the backpack to a person in need. This quiet Street Ministry does not judge or preach; it just gives from the heart.

CROP WALK

Every October, Unity of Fox Valley Outreach Program organizes and invites all congregants to participate in the annual Crop Hunger Walk sponsored by Church World Services to raise funds to end hunger in the U.S. and around the world.

LOVE IN ACTION TRIP

Nine members of Fox Valley Unity traveled to Chestnut Ridge, West Virginia on a Love in Action Outreach trip:  Bob Anthony, Nancy Baker, Tony Gross, Mickey Cowles, Alex Christensen, Perry Hurtt, Rick and Marsha McKay and Rev. Jan Little.

While serving this community, they learned about generational poverty and how the churches in the area, along with World Servants staff and volunteers, support the community.

Our team built up bedrooms on the second floor of the community center.  We also finished work on a resident’s home, built a flower garden, cleaned up for the Harvest Party, organized games, made beautiful baskets for the party raffle, baked items for the cakewalk and hung family photos from the community.

Over 100 people attended the Harvest Party with hayrides, games, dinner, a cake walk and raffle. All the children went home with a blanket and plenty of prizes from the games. A wonderful time was had by all, including our team!! The World Servants, its staff and volunteers perform God’s transforming work in these communities. We helped some of the residents meet their most basic needs, and each volunteer was transformed by the opportunity to serve and be served.
